The French Riviera

Sorry it took me so long to get this post up, I knew it was going to be a long one, so I wanted to make sure I had enough time to write it.

So, this past Saturday morning, Kristen and I left Florence at 5 to visit the French Riviera! We had 5 cities to see in 2 days, so it was a fast-paced and exciting trip, which included a TON of pictures:

First stop - Monaco, the second smallest country, only the Vatican is smaller.

Saint Nicholas Cathedral

Grace Kelly's tomb, she was the Princess of Monaco when she married Prince Rainier III

The Prince's Palace of Monaco

The changing of the guards

We walked through a garden

A funny-looking tree

Prince Albert

Francesco Grimaldi, who dressed up as a monk to take over the city in 1297

The Monaco Grand Prix circuit

Helicopter landing pad, because it is cheaper and faster to use here

Next stop - Nice

We walked through the old part of the city. They produce a lot of flowers in this area.

They used to have the fish market in this square. This might be my favorite picture so far.

We took a walk through a Palace

Cathédrale Sainte Réparate

The French architecture was extremely new for me

Socca, a speciality here. It's made of chickpea flour and olive oil.

Garibaldi, one of the leaders that united Italy, was born here. So, he is the baby below with 2 women, France and Italy.

Yes, we went gambling that evening. I lost a whopping 50 cents. The place was pretty nice, and we got to peak in the Cabaret show for a bit. It was exactly like in the movies.

Sunday morning - St. Paul

A very picturesque little town.

The bell tower that you can see sticking up in the first picture of the town

His name is Lucky!

The modern art was very different for me as well. I'm used to only the Renaissance.

There was a little market going on as well. We got to try sugar coated flower petals.

Snails

We had nice music playing

We also tasted some sweet, French wine

Then we arrived in Cannes: home of the Cannes Film Festival
There was an antique market going on

A two story carousel!

 Now onto the stars...

Julie Andrew's hands are tiny

My red carpet pose

Boulevard de la Croisette

This is the hotel where the stars stay when they come for the Film Festival

Final destination - Eze where we visited a perfumery

We had to match the scents, but we kinda failed

Soaps, with hand-painted beaks

I took over 200 pictures and I didn't want to make this post go on forever, so the rest are on Picasa:
