Snow and Homemade Pasta

As I mentioned in my last post, yesterday we had a bit of snow here! It was cooooold but really fun to walk around and take pictures. Unfortunately, most people were supposed to leave this morning, as today is the end of the program. Buuut flights were canceled due to all the snow (it snowed pretty much non-stop yesterday). So, they have to stay a few more days. It's partly sunny today and is supposed to be for the rest of the weekend BUT on Monday it's supposed to snow again...when we leave. I hope we can get out of here alright...

More Vespas (oh I learned a while ago that Vespa means wasp in Italian)

La Piazza della Signoria

Piazza della Repubblica

Christmas lights!

The Duomo

The view that evening outside Graziella's window of Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo. It was extra light outside because the snow reflected all the lights.

Then for our last dinner here we made pasta!

It's actually pretty simple, we used 1 kg of flour, 10 eggs, and some salt. Make a cup in the middle of the flour to put the eggs in and scramble the eggs letting the flour spill in so the dough doesn't crumble. After it forms a ball, kneed it for a while and let sit in a bowl covered with a towel for about half an hour. This made a ton of pasta, we only used half for dinner for 5 (and we didn't even eat it all).

Vivaldo did most of the work

Running it through the pasta machine to get it nice and thin

Graziella just cut them up into pieces

Cook for a bit and that's it!

We ate it with ragu sauce, it ended up being like lasagna. It was delicious :)

I will be taking many more pictures today and tomorrow before I leave, I will keep posting them on Picasa:
