One of the things we did when he was here was go to a football game! It was ACF Fiorentina (or Viola as they are commonly called because their color is purple) vs. Chievo Verona. Yes we planned to go to this particular game, but we had to root for Florence. We sat behind the goal with the rest of the crazy fans, it was pretty fun:
The stadium
And so it begins!
So much purple! They wear yellow as an alternative color too and people were waving around huge flags
Of course people were yelling, cheering (Forza Viola!), and singing chants a lot. But it was interesting because when someone fell, it wasn't like college football games I've been to where everyone gets quiet when someone gets hurt. Here, they were yelling still and booing sometimes, even when it was their own players, saying things like Dai! Alzati! (Come on! Get up!). I guess cause they weren't really hurt...
It was also different because there is no tailgating! We did see some people drinking wine outside the stadium before it started though.
We all wore our purple! But you can't really tell cause it was chilly and a bit rainy.
This guy in front of us was amusing, he used his hands when he yelled a lot.
We won!! 1-0 (I was glad, cause I would've been pretty disappointed if no one scored)
Here are the pictures from the rest of that weekend:
