Part 2 - Krakow

We took an overnight train from Prague to Krakow, which also uncomfortable. It felt like we stopped every half hour and every time I woke up. Anyways, Krakow was cool, but also cold! It got warmer when the sun came out during the day though. Here are the pics:

We got the top bunks. I guess we were still technically in Prague at this point, but whatever, Prague had enough pictures.

Town Hall Tower

The Renaissance Sukiennice (Cloth Hall, Drapers' Hall) in the Main Market Square

The entire interior was lined with shops, we bought some amber jewelery here :)

The Kraków barbican

And Piano #3.

We took a nice walk up to the Wawel Castle.

The Wawel Dragon, who, according to legend, lived in a cave under the Wawel Castle, which is right beside the Vistula River. He destroyed the city, until a poor apprentice stuffed a lamb with sulfur and left it outside the cave. The dragon ate it, then got so thirsty and drank from the river. However, its thirst would never go away, and it exploded from drinking too much.

Map of the center of the city, which is surrounded by a park

A sundial in a little park by the university

Armillary sphere

Collegium Novum of the Jagiellonian University, the oldest university in Poland.

The Planty Park that I mentioned earlier

St. Mary's Basilica

Our lunch: a Bajgle (bagel) and Oscypek (a smoked cheese from the mountains, Zakopane) local specialties

Back at the Main Market Square. It is the largest medieval town square in Europe.

This was inside a gift shop. I think Kristen does the face pretty well.
