Part 1 - Prague

It's been about 2 weeks since I've been back, and I have been finding time here and there to go through my hundreds of pictures and am finally sitting down to write this. Sorry for such a long break!

First stop on our fall break adventure was Prague! The bus ride Friday evening into Saturday morning was...uncomfortable. We had plenty of stops though and I was glad to just get that done with at the beginning.

And here we go...

I was not used to seeing trams, but they were everywhere.

We decided to see the Dancing House first after dropping our stuff off at the hostel.

Originally named Fred and Ginger (after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers) it was built in 1996.

The lights made it look like a horse running

The next day we walked to the National Museum

Then we walked down the road a bit to the Prague State Opera

Where we picked up tickets for Othello that night

Wenceslas Square and the National Museum

We couldn't understand anything :(

Outdoor markets on the way to the Old Town

Detailed wooden clocks

The Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square (don't worry I have a million more pictures of it)

The Jan Hus Memorial in the Old Town Square

I thought people actually drove these old cars around and I got excited. Later we realized they were tours.

A huge, functioning metronome

Walking up to the Cathedral and Castle

St. Vitus Cathedral

Inside

Beautiful stained glass windows

Kristen!

Picture with the guard in front of the Castle

Charles Bridge

At the opera! We got the cheapest seats way off to the sides, but we could just lean over the railings and get a really good view.

The next day at the Astronomical Clock again! It took us a dozen tries to get this picture just right...

Yum, potatoes for lunch

I love the architecture, so different than in Italy

Then we went into the Mucha Museum! His stuff is so cool, you should check his Art Nouveau work out if you don't know it.

Then we walked to the Lennon Wall

More trams!

Some interesting graffiti

There were lots of flower shops along the main road

Yay! It was really sunny on our last day

I have no idea what is going on here...

The Rudolfinum music auditorium

View of the Cathedral from the other side of the Vltava River

There are trees and leaves here (not like in the center of Florence). Now it feels like fall.

Jewish Ceremonial Hall, in Josefov (Jewish Quarter)

The Municipal House

Inside

The Cubist Museum. The building (the House of the Black Madonna) has no right angles, notice the angle in the middle of the front.

Another one of my favorite pictures

The Estates Theatre or Stavovské divadlo

Yep, thats a toilet on the corner

Cubism in Prague!

Yes, we finally got to try one of these! It was a baked good covered in sugar, vanilla, toffee, and almonds.

They cooked them over coals

The end :( This sign just reminded me of State, we never went in.

Oh and one night while walking back to our hostel we saw some guys who looked like they were reenacting a scene from Fight Club. Two of them were seriously going at each other while the others watched. So yeahhh.

Many, many, many more pictures are on Picasa:
